Want to Make a Confident Decision?
An ultrasound is the perfect way to confirm your pregnancy. It gives you the answers you need to make a confident decision about how to handle your unexpected pregnancy. Get as much information as possible with an ultrasound.
How Does an Ultrasound Work?
An ultrasound is an imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the inside of your body. First, a nurse applies a gel either on your abdomen or to a device known as a transducer.
As the transducer is rubbed through the gel or inserted gently into your vagina, it sends sound waves through your body. The sound waves convert to electrical signals, forming an image on a computer screen.

3 Reasons Why You Need an Ultrasound
There are three essential reasons to get an ultrasound exam before deciding what to do about your pregnancy.
1. It Confirms if your pregnancy is growing or If you’ve miscarried
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) estimates 26% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage. The only way to tell if your pregnancy is still growing or if you have miscarried is with an ultrasound.
Because it takes a woman’s body time to return to her pre-pregnancy hormone level, she could receive a positive pregnancy test result days or weeks after a miscarriage.
If you are considering abortion, make sure you are pregnant first.
2. Ultrasound Determines How Far Along You Are in Your Pregnancy
This is especially critical if you are considering the abortion pill. The FDA only approves one of the two abortion drugs through 10 weeks gestation (70 days after the first day of your last menstrual period).
3. It Determines If The Pregnancy Is In The Correct Location
Although rare, some pregnancies form outside the uterus. This is known as an ectopic pregnancy. It requires special medical attention. If not detected early, it could cause life-threatening health problems.
